New Ideas in Middle Grade Literature: A Book Discussion Group for Adults

Monday, September 167:00—8:00 PMChildren's Program Room 1st FloorLeominster Public Library30 West Street , LEOMINSTER, MA, 01453

This new book group is for parents and caregivers who want to learn more about books written for 8 to 12 year olds today.  With strong characterization and broad representation, some of these books tackle difficult topics, such as bullying and mental illness, in age-appropriate ways to help kids navigate the world they are growing up in. Each month, participants will read a different middle-grade novel and then participate in a discussion led by one of the children’s librarians. Please note: participants must be 18 or older. Sign ups are required, and books will be available in the Dr. Martin T. Feldman Children's Room approximately one month before the meeting.

The first meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 16 and the book will be Jennifer Chan is Not Alone by Tae Keller. Sign ups begin August 16.

The second meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and the book will be The Shape of Thunder by Jasmine Warga. Sign ups begin Sept. 16.

The third meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 18 and the book will be graphic novel Living with Viola by Vera Fung.  Sign ups begin Oct. 18.
