Join us for a staged reading of a brand new play, "Ice Glen" by Joan Ackermann, presented by the Stratton Players!

The drama is set in 1920, in a once-grand mansion in Lenox that has fallen on hard times since the death of its charismatic owner. Widow Dulce struggles to keep this household  with the help of a loyal butler Grayson, and feisty Irish cook, Mrs. Roswell. Other residents include: Sarah Harding, who acts as gardener, and secretly writes poetry,  and Denby, a young man best described by the gentle and archaic word “simpleton,” who serves as a jack of all trades about the estate. When Atlantic Monthly editor Peter Woodburn turns up, in search of the elusive poet, conflict arises among the characters.

Ice Glen is a lively seriocomic exploration of the meaning of art and language, and the consolation that comes from creativity and human connection.
