Join us on Monday, September 23 at 6pm, for a series of Beginner Geneology Workshops with the Central Massachusetts Genealogical Society! Participants will learn the basics of genealogical research. Registration will reserve your spot in all three sessions, which will be held on Monday, September 23, Monday, September 30, and Monday, October 7 at 6pm. If you have a tablet or laptop, please bring it to the class with you. If you do not have one of these devices, all of the needed supplies will be provided for participants to use.

The curriculum that will be used is a national curriculum that will expose students to the concepts, benefits, and joys of family history. Each lesson incorporates authentic methodologies used by professional genealogists, along with inclusive teaching strategies to ensure genealogy is accessible to all students. This curriculum aims to empower students to explore family history in a safe way. All students, regardless of their background and family configuration, will be given an equal opportunity to develop critical skills to better understand themselves and the shared human experience. Students will discover that genealogy is a discipline that provides intrinsic value to not only individuals and families but to all of society. Genealogy is an exciting and dynamic endeavor that provides a real-world, personal connection to history. It is much more than having students fill out a family tree: It encompasses a wide range of historical inquiry, including personal family history, community genealogy, and case studies.
