THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE PENDING STORM. IT WILL BE RE-SCHEDULED FOR THIS SUMMER.

Kids ages 8-13, are invited to join Nancy Bell, on Friday, February 25, at 10am for her “Spinning History” program. This is a visual arts and women’s history workshop about the role the art of spinning played in the American Revolution. Dressed in carefully researched, hand-sewn, historically accurate clothing, she demonstrates three kinds of spinning from “the Great Wheel” to the “drop spindle.” Participants learn that true “Independence” came about in part because women were instrumental in creating and replacing the existing textile economy in the colonies by learning to spin, something not many women did before the war.

In this workshop, young people get to spin and take home their very own bookmarks while learning how women and girls did as much to free America as their brothers with bullets and bayonets! For more than twenty years, storyteller, historian, and hand-spinner Nancy Bell has been delighting audiences all over New England with her fun, hands-on, Historical “Edu-tainment.”

Registration is required and begins 2/18.

Registration for this event has now closed.
